INVISIBLE

‘The door to the invisible must be visible.’
René Daumal,
Mount Analogue:
A Novel of Symbolically Authentic Non-Euclidian Adventures in Mountain Climbing (1952).

This exhibition was curated by Nick Dubois, and hosted by Art First.

I explored the themes of invisibility via a selection of my works dating from 2010 to 2017.   I chose a selection of existing works from a number of Series that have to do with   books and   art history, and also made some new works.   A new video  shows visitors to the Musée des Beaux-Arts to Colmar viewing the Isenheim altarpiece. I filmed from behind and to the side of the altarpiece, which is exhibited in the middle of the room, and edited the video in slow motion. Another new work is a sound-piece of Sir Ernst Gombrich saying  variations on the phrase ‘next slide, please’ during a lecture. I erased the rest of the lecture, leaving only these phrases, which are heard at the time intervals they occurred during the hour long lecture.  For the  brochure, I made a poster in which all the different names for the invisible perfect world are merged together to create one long word.
